Your Metford Cobras Football Club

Metford Cobras Football Club (previously known as Metford Junior Soccer Club) was established in 1993 and originally located on Chelmsford Drive. The club was founded with the aim of bringing together kids and parents from the surrounding communities.
Metford prides itself on a strong community focus, with many of the older players and parents enjoying the famous Cobras Cabaret nights. A chance for the supporters and players to celebrate after each season.
Metford is a club for life for many players. Our inclusion of an all ages teams and over 35's teams sees our younger players stick with the club into their adult life. Our longest playing member has been with the club for an impressive 18 years.
Member is a club of inclusion. Our all aged women's team saw success for a long period and we have plans to add a young all-girls team to support the next generation of womens soccer players in Australia.
Our all age men's team and over 35's mens team often train (and celebrate together). It's a great opportunity for players 17 and up to learn from our more experienced players.
Metfords club colours are blue and gold, the club mascot is the Cobra.

Celebrating 20 years

In 2013 Metford Cobras FC celebrated twenty years of football. At a night of food and music at Easts' bowling club, a select few were awarded Life Membership with the Metford Cobras. Life members were chosen for ongoing service to the club as players, supporters and volunteers.
We hope that our new tradition of awarding life memberships to select individuals who show dedication to the club — both on and off the pitch — will inspire young players to remain with the Cobras and to contribute in more ways than just playing.

2014 Major and Minor Premierships

In 2014 the Metford Cobras All Age Men took out the Major and Minor Premierships in their comp. A first in the history of the club. The team, coached by C. Garbutt and managed by M. Crouch, took out top points through the season and went on to face Shortland FC in the grand final. After a nail-biting 1-1 finish at the end of extra time, the boys won on penalties with the final strike made by Owen Welsh.
The boys accredit their success to the strong knit mateship between them and the several years they've had together working on building a cohesive team unit.

Officially 'FC'

In 2019 after consultation with current players and life members, Metford Junior Soccer Club was officially renamed Metford Cobras Football Club. Metford Cobras Football Club better reflects our goals to be a club for all ages. It also means Metford FC joins many other junior and professional clubs in Australia who have officially adopted the football namesake.
